Almost summer! I am glad the weather has changed, it seems to have brought a lot more buyers out into the market and sellers are cleaning out and sprucing up to get their homes sold. 

 

2008 was a year full of many challenges for a lot of us. For me, it meant making less money in real estate than in my previous years while still logging as many hours. Many of my sellers were thinking their homes still held the market value of 2003-2004 and they didn't want to "give their house away" while facing the reality of the price reductions required to sell in 2008. Most of my buyers were hesitant to buy thinking that there was a better deal to come in the "declining market" (in Monmouth and Ocean counties) and lost out on some wonderful homes at great prices. By the end of the year I was able to help 14 families buy and or sell their homes and I am on track to make the Circle of Excellence for the third year in a row--not what I would have expected from the news reports! 

 

As 2009 begins we have a substantial amount of inventory at greatly reduced cost coupled with mortgage rates that are the lowest on record in 25 plus years. This is all good news--please help me get the word out that all is not doom and gloom and real estate sales are still alive and well!  I am looking forward to increased activity (and contracts!) for the homes I currently have listed (see Listings tab) and we expect to see an  increase in activity at our office--more showings for our listings and increased attendance at our Open Houses.
